Hi - i wonder if anyone has experienced a similar set of circumstances? I try and start the car and it fires (for about 1 sec then promptly dies and refuses to start). I can leave the car 24 hours and it does exactly the same thing. So my plan of investigation (starting after work one night this week) will be as follows:

Check HT circuit, inc distributor cap
Check fuel filter (the car has been left for nearly 9 nmonths and not run regularly)
Check fuel pump output
? check fuel pumpr relay ? - is this positioned with the other relays & fuses or maounted elsewhere?

Anything obvious i'm missing?

THANKS

Listen for fuel pump running (behind OSR wheel) for about a second or so when you turn key on. It should do it every time and be quite noticeable. Fuel pump relay is behind plastic shield behind battery. It's marked 'Kickdown' (perversely)

Had the same problem with a w124 230ce and turned out to be metering unit

Just check the simple things first. Fuel and spark.

The problem appears to be solved. Thanks to Druk telling me where the fuel relay was - swapped this out and 'Bob's your's Mothers brother' as the saying goes!
