w124 230E transmission swap?

Hi all,

W124 230E 1990 'G' is what I have with the 4 speed auto gearbox and M102 engine.

My gearbox is pretty much dead now, way beyond repair so what I would like to know is;

Would any other tranny fit on my engine other than a 230E one (very hard to source second hand; called like 46 breakers and merc specialists)

If so, what trannys can fit my motor without modification? 200E tranny? 260E etc??

Any 190E, 200, 200E, 230E or 260E transmission will do the job, I'd expect to pay no more than £150 for a decent used one.

So it can be a 200E transmission then? I have found a 200E tranny for £80..

Will there be any problems with propshaft length or anything else?

I have a rebuilt one you can have for £100. It's got a start-in-first mod on it.
