w124 500e

Yup looks very nice apart from the mirrors IMO (and the originals come with it anyway). Good luck!

Good luck with the bidding. Will you be going to view it before hand?

Just spotted them after you posted. Not nice.

Re the mileage...it says 160,000 miles...is it really 160,000km's or has it got @258,000km's on it?

Also it says 3 owners....I wonder if tahts the number of owners since its been in the UK or 3 in total?

For a car like this I would strongly recommend a visit prior to bidding as you could be looking at ££££'s for rectification work if its not been well looked after....I would also want to go through the service info very carefully and would want to check the operation of the auto-box and check for electrical glitches caused by the massive under bonnet heat created by these cars.

Having owned one of these earlier this year, I can highly recommend them, but you need to buy carefully.

Top advice,

I've had the pleasure of owning one of these too, and although nothing went wrong in the short period of time I had one, things can happen if not looked after.

The fact that he's had the de-limiter taken off is scary enough to stay away. Not sure what abuse the engine has had without it being cared for. Definately worth a trip before putting in that winning bid, and good luck!

ps.. definately a no no to those mirrors. The car had enough class with the flared arches ;)

Check out the deep dish wheels! Very nice  but the mirrors would have to go

Looks quite nice, found this 500E on eBay this morning. Its 160,000 Miles. Let me know how the viewing goes if you do and get some photos!

So the limiter works perfectly then ? ;)

Sorry , i'll get my coat ........ :o

I notice it's got the E500 style front end. It's probably been updated along with the other cosmetic changes, but you better check that it's not had a collision at some point in it's life.

I asked about accident although he said there has been no accident. I would recommened a HPI check and maybe get its history checked out in germany via VIN number?

E500 Estate

I wonder if they ever did an estate version in RHD

I don't think there was ever a RHD E500 / 500E. But a LHD estate would tempt me more than somewhat!

Never made in Right Hand or in estate format, which is a shame!

They only made 10,300 500E's in total for world wide consumption, which is not a lot when compared to most other Mercedes models.

A handful were sold through MB UK dealers with MPH speedo's and the other give away is that UK specified 500E's have side indicators on the front wings.

I recall that someone made a LHD E60 AMG Estate at one point - will try to dig up photos soon...

about 30 mins left and bids are on 5k. i made several bids on this motor until my mrs caught me out, she went ballistic and gave me lecture on throwing money away then told me if i was going to throw money away why dont i get a new bathroom fitted!
how many other fellas are out there with wives who dont understand our passion for these beautiful pieces of machinery. i can never understand my wife's passion for shopping 24/7 but i dont complain.
