about 30 mins left and bids are on 5k. i made several bids on this motor until my mrs caught me out, she went ballistic and gave me lecture on throwing money away then told me if i was going to throw money away why dont i get a new bathroom fitted!
how many other fellas are out there with wives who dont understand our passion for these beautiful pieces of machinery. i can never understand my wife's passion for shopping 24/7 but i dont complain.

Unlucky :(

Made me smile reading it though. Sorry shouldn't laugh :D

sold for 5.5k, these rare delicacies are really affordable, what a bargain and reserve met. could have bought that but now i will be spending my well earned money on something more constructive- PERHAPS A NEW BATHROOM! gutted though as i have always wanted one of those to shame up my mates who all drive beamers of golf rs32's or 4 motion's. ( grandad's car- oh really!)

Maybe you could get some nice decal of a 3 pointed star on the bathroom wall.. to remind you what could have been, or what may still come in the future :)

ps... £5.5k is a little high in my opinion.. compared to the one sold by E500 a few weeks ago IIRC

I recall that someone made a LHD E60 AMG Estate at one point - will try to dig up photos soon...

Yes, that might even convince me to get one and swap the badges with my E300 Diesel :) . Seriously, I did ponder this one as fuel is very very cheap in Russia - only 30p per litre.

I think £5.5k is a good price considering its 160k but KM.

It looks mint, has a new suspension, nice wheels and remus exhaust (not available anymore for the 500e and cost a fortune).

Anyway i know the chap who bought it, it will be his 2nd 500e (still keeping his other one as well!) so its off to a good home.

Having looked at various 500E's earlier this year, I came to the opinion that to get a really nice one, with all the paperwork to track the servicing, mileage etc etc, you would need to spend @ £8-10k.

For that you should get a sensible mileage, (the black 500E thats just sold had a good mileage, which is good news for the new owner), A1 bodywork with no modifications, ie spring heights etc etc.

I can't help thinking from the cheaper 500E's that I saw that you are potentially buying a ticking time bomb or one thats in need of an expensive service, ie new disk's +pads, automatic transmission oil change, plugs + all filters and oil if you buy at the cheaper end of the scale.

By buying at £8-10k you should hopefully avoid what could easily be a service not shy of £1k if you had all of the above done and hopefully buy one that has had the engine wiring harness replaced (only applies to the 93-95 year models), which is a @ £700 job alone, if not more.

I hope the 500E thats just been sold stacks up in all the right area's....first thing he needs to do is get rid of those M3 door mirrors :p

Great....Great...Cars!!!

Coincidentally, I saw a 500E a couple of days ago in Basingstoke on German plates (Berlin registration) which looked immaculate, albeit it was Beryl Blue which looked a bit at odds with the butch bodywork.

Does 160,000 miles constitute good mileage ? I know the w124 is pretty robust but 160k still seems quite alot to me. I believe the clocks on these are in km but having enquired guy says its done 160,000 miles

I sent the guy who was selling it an e-mail to clarify whether it was miles or KM's and he wrote back saying the car had 160,000km's, which is 100k miles give or take a couple of KM's.

Is this for the 500E just sold for £5500? I was told 160,000 miles by the owner.

I also know the guy who bought this 500E (known by email), a real enthusiast and WILL really look after that car!

Also the merc with german plates was on ebay and sold for £6,900 couple days ago.

Hummm...thats odd....I just re-read his e-mail and he confirms it as being 160,000km's.

Really....wow....was it the Beryl blue one I mentioned......if it was it's an absolute peach of a 500E judging from the body condition....its just a shame its Beryl Blue which seems to be a colour at odds with the looks of the 500E...no offence intended to other W124 owners with Beryl blue cars.

Hi,

Not sure what colour but looks blue-black and had body kit, rims, and loads of additions which really ruined it in my opinion

Regards,
Mo

Just seen the 500e that was sold on ebay. Really really nice car, real minter. Full main dealer history from Germany as well as the UK, car looks very genuine. New owner is very impressed with it, always wanted a black 500e!
