W124 Armrest re-trimming

My replacement Armrest arrived today, perfect colour match, not original Mercedes, but you wouldn't notice in the car. It is trimmed in leather rather than plastic, so no more cracking, leather is not quite as good quality, but with age it will improve. Not original Mercedes, and a bit of a bugger to fit at first until I realised the metal attachment to the left hand seat was missing two holes into which the plastic cover clicks. Managed to drill these easily, screwing it in was a job and an half because of the tight tolerance between seat and armrest.

A miracle that I managed to get it all done without breaking something. Then my watch stopped working.

First viewing on Sunday.

Ha Ha I have one on its way over from the fatherland as we speak/type, doubt it will be fitted by sunday unless it arrives tomorrow, so I may get my gran to chrochet me an armrest cover so nobody can see the cracks

watch out Charles I may be asking too many questions about yours when I see you sunday.

Happy to oblige, but I will not take the thing off...having to get a new watch hurts!

Good luck! (fingers crossed, various superstitious incantations and gestures against bad luck...)

Just remember, to refit the plastic cover you will need to drill holes in the new part.

And I wil switch from my Seadweller to a Casio G-shock just to be safe. thanks for heads up.

OK

all swapped over in my lunch hour, job done. the plasric cover for the hinge doesnt fit plush yet but I will have a good go at it on staurday. Problem I have now is my armrest is so spankers it makes my front seats look rubbish!!! Reminds me of when u clean a stain on your cream carpet with a steamer and u have one tiny clean perfect square foot of carpet that almost glows in the dark, you then wish u left the stain there as it didnt show so much.
Plus point is that I am not resting my elbow on Joan Collins's face (leathery and lots of wrinkles) any more, I am sure she is pleased as well :D
