Im trying to find part numbers for the US spec front door pockets. The US spec had a 5.25" speaker pod built into them, as shown below:

Im sure there must be a way to find out a part number, possibly with an EPC?

Any help would really be appriciated.

I've seen those as well but they put the speaker in a horrible position where it is obscured by your body so the sound isn't that great.

Mind you the dash speakers aren't exactly amazing :)

Door speakers

Those are part of the Premium Sound System. They're woofers so the location is fine

They don't go very loud or very low but they're a very big improvment over the stock dash speakers

You'll need the VIN of a car with PSS to try and get part numbers

If I can get the part numbers the plan is to run a set of diamond audio 3-way HEX components, so ill still use the 4's for mid and mount a tweeter into the a pillar, the doors will just have mid\bass so direction isnt too important.

If I cant get hold of the pockets then Ill have a fibre glass encloseure built to go in the pocket between the 2 rear seats, this would house a pair of 6.5" JL 'subs'

Ill also have a pair of 10" diamond audio TDX subs in a 2.5 cu.ft ported enclosure in the boot, but with just having 4" mids id still lack mid\bass.

So if anyone has an EPC please let me know.
Cheers

I will take a look tonight if I get time / if I remember ;)

Please can you give me some more info about the car we're talking about, year, coupé / cab etc? :)

Thanks Shude, I need them for a '94 coupe with grey trim.
Ive sent you a PM re EPC.

Thanks.

The EPC shows no pic of them, the same simple line drawing for all 6 different "pockets" for either door (12 total :) )

A124 720 23 74 : pocket, left front door, used with leather trim, sound-system
A124 720 24 74 : pocket, right front door, used with leather trim, sound-system

Those part numbers require a trailing colour code, which is nonsense without an interior trim code or the VIN.

I tried looking one of them up on the online parts price thing and it came back negative, this is not gospel however.

3-ways

If you want 3-way components I don't think the door cards alone will do the trick. The door skin and wiper motor mounts are different on the PSS cars so you'd be into lots of mods unless you can find a pair of front doors from a PSS car

If I were going 3-way I'd put a 3, 4 or 5.5-inch mid in the dash in the stock position (there's not much depth, though, because of the heater ducts), a tweeter on the door on the triangular trim in front of the mirrors, and a mid build at the front of the door pocket

There's not that much low down in the door at the front. So long as you miss the check strap you might be able to get a 6.5 or even an 8-inch unit in there

I had a spare dash to play with. If you want door builds a spare door to hack about would be useful and not expensive

Let us know how you get on
