W124 e300

checked the regulator pack. looked fine. 1/8 extening from bottom of unit. how do i check diode function!!

If the brushes are only sticking out 3mm they need replacing. New are about half an inch out iirc....You can get replacement brushes but I would replace it anyway for the price of a new one

If you have a half decent electrical tester it should have a diode test position, basically you need a low reading one way and a high reading the other way, diode is like a one way valve

Ok at the risk of sounding like a retardo.... wheres the adjustment arm for the serpentine belt located... lmfao... or the simplest procedure for replacing the belt and pulleys while its off..

From memory, slacken off the tensioner pulley bolt (to the left of the PAS pump & below the water pump pulley), then slacken of the long adjuster bolt behind the tensioner (13mm head?), may be dirty and not too clearly visible but it's there alright. Hope you get my drift.

Not worked on the belt, so can't comment. If you need a manual, try searching for 'w124-zone' they have it free online.

the pulley bolt the one attached to the strut ? even after removing the bolt and loosening the tentioner theres only a cm of room... not enough to work with...

Sorry, can't help much further (strut & removing bolt don't compute), it's a while since I did a belt but I may have removed the the rad fan cowl & blade, also I think there might be a difference between tensioners if the car has a/con. Have a look on the site Balge suggested. If nothing else I've pointed you in the right direction.
