Car
mercedes of course
just had a friend car stolen earlier in the week, no glass breakage nothing, her friends husband is a policeman said they had spate of cars being lifted in harrow recently so it is obvious the work of organised gang.

this is in north west london.

if they have a lifter it means nothing will stop them apart from an alarm or cctv.

best be careful with your cars until this gang is caught.

insurance claims will go up and it would also means premiums.

stealing such cars for breaking not only causes hassles but heartaches for their owners

u have been warned:wallbash:

A lady local to me had a 124 cab stolen the same way,it was lifted in the early hours

I've heard of this sort of thing quite a few times before but never really understood how it works.

It would involve a noisy diesel lorry pulling up outside a house in the quiet early hours, guy(s) getting out to fit the hoist and operate the lifting gear before jumping back in the cab and rumbling off down the road with a stolen car on the back of the lorry in full view.

Even if they were quick surely the householder or neighbours must see / hear something as it's not a silent process and would look somewhat suspicious at 3am ?

It seems there is nothing anyone can do to protect their car apart from not park it on the street.

The I'm talking about was parked on the drive way and the only person that sough them thought they were a clampping unit

^ A car getting clamped in the driveway in the middle of the night? and the person who saw this thought it was normal? What planet was that person from?!?

Definitely Africa, thousands of well preserved W124s (I've got one) and W201s are down here in in southern Spain and the Algerians, Tunisians and Moroccans are always looking to buy them to take across the water. They absolutely adore them and they are always on the look out for more.
There is and for the foreseeable future will be a big market for them particularly for high specced cherished ones.

No RHD Mercs there that I saw and virtually no estates either.

Having said that I go all the way there and what do I see...bloody Ringway's car...

A detailed inspection revealed something I've never seen before on a w210 estate...

No Rust...

Have a quick look, maybe people can spot their nicked ones in this lot.

This Taxi rank is over 1/4 mile long and 4 cars deep...all Mercs.

Nice parking, right in the No Parking bay.

No wonder they like Mercs, it looks like Volvo's just can't stand the heat.

I saw this and thought of a member on here.

The owner wanted to know what I was doing photographing his car...he couldn't believe there were none left over here.

My dad used to have an original Renault one of those (21??). It was written off in a heavy crash, not by me.

12

The Renaults of that era had an intriguing character.
