(not sure if this is the best way to post, sorry not that good on the pc) - i listed under electronics before thinking it would be better in engine.

Hi All, I'm a bit of a sado with cars and have a problem selling them...

My favourite is a 92 320ce - vin WDB1240522B88....

Like most, I've a problem with the engine wiring loom which I've taken off to replace (it wasn't giving any problems but i decided to replace it while doing a very deep clean / restoration). luckily I've been able to find most parts needed, some salvaged (with new pins) / new wiring and some from Mercedes Wakefield (who have been fairly helpful).

i have two problems though -

1 - i need a wiring diagram, the one I've picked up from the web suggests that pin 8 from the main 44 pin ecu plug is a pink coax (centre) that runs to the camshaft position sensor (ground / shield is connected to 19). on my vehicle it looks to he a green coax. Just to add some confusion, pin's 29 and 30 are also a green coax to a similar connector (129 540 22 81). i believe this is the crankshaft position sensor (other was cam)

2 - i need some of this coax, the colours on my vehicle are (centres) grey (slate?), green, yellow and purple (violet). could do with about 2m of each.

can anybody help with the diagram or sourcing the cable (I've tried the guy's at VWP ltd in Ilkeston, they don't do the coax).

thanks in anticipation. Simon.

I have a homemade diagram of a 320 ECU wiring layout (made up my own harness a couple or three years ago) and it shows pin 8 as 'heavy pink'. Pin 19 is the corresponding sheath. 29 is the sheath of the green 30. The coax cables in mine were unaffected by the insulation rot problem and I re-used them. I got the impression that it was made from a different material to the other wires. From what I remember the Crank position sensor cabling emerged from the general loom close to where it passes through the firewall as does the coax to the inlet air temp sensor.

Thanks DRUK, i think I'm a bit of a tart!

You're correct on the type of cable, it does look to be made of different stuff and is probably unaffected by the "bio" problem.

Now the tart bit - logic went out the window and i cut the cables back at both ends to check the colouring (as mine is defo green not pink). I assumed the cables would be bugg..... as the others. I bet they're not!! - just had another look and they look ok!! apart from the cuts.

now i could do with replacements - wonder if anyone has an old loom with these still intact?? I'd like to buy them (hopefully not for Mercedes spares money though :-) )

Have you got a copy of your wiring diagram i can look at?

when finished i intend to put a pdf up showing what I've done and where I've got the bits from.

thanks. Simon.

Wiring diagram problems

has anyone got a pin out wiring diagram for the engine bay ecu wiring loom i could have a copy of?

On mine, not sure of the colouring for the crankshaft and camshaft coax cables.

thanks. S.
