Popped our to check on the old ce and all seems well - however its looking like the rear screen is stsrting to delaminate at the corners. Im sure I spotted this in the summer but its getting worse...

So, some research suggests this is a common issue and as a screen is over £500 plus as I spotted a thread on applying vinyl around the screen I wonder if anyone has had this done and has some pics of the finished article?

I will call a couple local graphic chaps over the coming weeks if it looks ok.

I did it on my old 124 coupe

Easy peasy , strips of 2 inch black gloss vinyl , a sharp craft knife , jobs a good un !

Thanks howard. Im happy to pay a peo as I would make an ar$e of it.

Have you got a pic of your handy work and did it look fine and dandy?

Scitt

Covering it with vinyl will be ok i guess from a looks point of view but beneth it'll get worse.

Delam fouls your heated screen elements. You may find that your rear screen doesn't de mist properly or in patches.

I'd do a little oopsy daisy and give the screen a little knock so you can replace it via insurance for excess money.

Replaced mines but had to chat my way through as i couldnt see a flippin thing out the rear in winter.

Depends who you get on the end of the blower. The first guy i dealt with said no as its classed as wear and tear.

Thanks billy. I dont drive the car when its raining, dark or cold so the rear screen demisters not an issue for now

Im going to contact a couple vehicle vinyl pros to see what there chat is.

As the cars a keeper, I can worry about a replacement in the years to come when I run out of things to spend my cash on!

It's usually just the edges that go.

Mine never gave any trouble with the heated screen.

Does insurance not cover --"damaged glass" cheaper to pay the premium and have it replaced ?

Im fully comp and inc 70 excess for glass replacement but I suspect the delamination will be classified as wear and tear.

These days lots of insurers let you deal directly with their approved screen provider. If so you will have no problem with them agreeing to replace it.

Might just give them a call then!
