hi

BOTH rear speakers (in the rear doors of my W124 estate) have stopped working. there is power to the doors as the electric windows still work.

on the offchance I've checked all fuses but they are fine.

any ideas? does anyone know if the wiring goes via any fancy box somewhere or just direct from the radio?

the car does have an aftermarket Blaupunct radio/cd. i've never took it out and it hasnt been touched or banged or anything. i parked up after it being fine and next time i used the car it wasnt working.

thanks

derek

I would check connections in back of stereo as unusual for both to go at once unless the problem is with the head unit.

out of interest did you get this sorted? Im out trying to get my rears to work, and i cant without physically running wires from the rear speaker head unit wires to the rear speakers. The two sets of wires for the front speakers are both live and work but the rears dont show as being live woth my tester but work anyway through the new wiring but i cannot get the rears to work using the merc wiring!! Sorry to open up an old thread but im stumped.

Older cars had a front-rear balance fader in the console so one set of wires to the HU. Later cars have two sets of wires to the HU

It's nothing to do with power connections. Try pulling the rear speakers out and testing them with a 9 Volt battery

The factory rear door speakers that are mounted in the armrest are still available from Mercedes but sound awful
