W124 remote locking

Forgive me if this has been raised already.

The remote for my 124 doesn't function so I'm having to lock the car with the key in the passenger side lock.

The ignition uses a different key as the barrel has been replaced at some point in the past (a common issue I believe).

Any idea how I might go about getting the remote locking fixed. Any idea of costs?

May that its the remote key that's gone faulty or needs to be resynchronised. Lots of posts on here about it including a link to a "how to" repair. Mercedes-Benz Owners' Forums

Maybe the remote just needs a new battery?

I got one replaced at a dealers recently for about £8.

I'd already replaced the batteries. The internal switch has become detached as per the link above. Out with the soldering iron!
