Where is this rod located on the suspension? It has been a long time since I was underneath the car and it's still tucked up in my garage.

My suspension is jacked right up at the back and as I had a slight knock when going over bumpy roads I think it may have broken or fallen off. I know that you can manually alter the suspension height with it but can't re-collect where it is mounted while i'm away from the car

It attaches to the rear Axle/sway bar IIRC.

Don't squeeze under the car and try and operate the arm manually with the engine running....

Excellent, I think I can picture it now.

The suspension is jacked right up but it wont go up any of my ramps when at the normal ride height which has been why I haven't just driven it up them to have a look, I don't want to be squished

I do deeply hope it is a problem with the rod due to both struts being maxed out and holding pressure well.

If the activation rod were to become disconnected from the valve in some way, would this cause the suspension to pump up or squat down?

I also get a slight squeaking sound as I get past 2000rpm which I'm guessing is the high flow of fluid going through the system in this abnormal state.

It holds this height permamently, never settles over the course of a month. I replaced the short hydraulic lines and spheres roughly 4 years ago now with genuine parts and am not driving the car in this condition, it has been in dry storage for 2.5 years now to my shame :o

I think the rod controls a bypass valve allowing the pressure to release from the system at the correct height. The arm could have seized I guess.

My old TE had a habit of popping a nylon balljoint off at one end of the rod. If it is that then replace it cos once it's done it once it wont stop doing it.

Cheers for the Links Mazza, very appreciated :thumb:

Druk, the Nylon ball joint could explain the light knock I was feeling prior to putting it into storage, i'll look into it once I'm with the car again.

Again, thanks for the help all.

Dave!
