Hello everybody,

As many members may know, I was searching for an exhaust for my w124.

I succeeded to get a supersprint at a great price. However it is in the US and the seller has no idea how to send it to the UK.

I would be thankful if you guys could recommend me a good shipping method at the best rate possible.

Kind regards,

Shipping a backbox from the US it`ll cost a fair bit

Supersprint is an Italian company.
It has U.K. distribution:

United kingdom mufflers distributors, exhaust systems distributors, exhaust components distributors, exhausts supplier

It also appears that the unit for the W124 230E is discontinued:

MERCEDES W124 230E, exhaust system

Surprised that you located an exhaust for a 230E in the USA as the car was never available in the USA market.

That being said, the most reliable means to ship USA-UK would be by UPS or FedEx.

My company is a UPS daily shipper, so I was able to calculate best rate, assuming London and using "Saver" rate.
Estimating carton 36" x 12" x 12" which dimensions out to about 17kg the cost would be about 230 sterling.
More if the shipper doesn't have a UPS account and must use a shipping depot to pack and ship.
You also would be responsible for any customs and import duties and tax.

Consolidated aiirfreight would be the least expensive but the USA shipper would have to use an international freight forwarder and you would need a customs broker on your end.

Bottom line, probably not worth it...

US Postal Service (USPS) is gererally a lot cheaper than Fedex and UPS. You can get a quote online.

Hello,

Please have a look at this website.

W124 SuperSprint Exhaust "230E" - Benzworld.org - Mercedes-Benz Discussion Forum

The seller says that he bought it in the UK and had it shipped to the US.

Anyway if it would cost at least >£200 to ship it to the UK, It is true that it is not worth buying it.

Go on EBAY, find something new and inexpensive and take some measurements.
You'll need a back box that's about 16" long x 6" high x 8" wide.
Any exhaust shop can add/modify the inlet pipe and weld on brackets.

This would work size wise:

Dual Universal Magnaflow Exhaust Stainless Muffler Silencer Homologated CE 14862 | eBay

If I buy this magnaflow, what other things should I purchase to fit it?

On ebay.de I found these Lorinser exhaust but I doubt that one of them will fit a 230E ...

Lorinser Endschalldämpfer Mercedes Benz W124 200E, 220E, 220CE | eBay

Why not just get a custom back box fabricated to your requirements - much easier and quicker - probably a bit cheaper also??

I wouldn't ship anything of any value with the USPS...
They have a difficult time correctly delivering local first class mail.

I found in some threads that fitting on remus , magnaflow and any other aftermarket mufflers may reduce low end torque and reduce back pressure.

What are your views on that?

Negligible, if any...the back pressure is mostly before the rear silencer in the stock cat.
You needn't be concerned of noticing reduction in low end torque in a M102 as there isn't much to begin with. That's why it has a low rear gear ratio. :thumb:

It'll make no "real life" performance different on a 230E, all you will gain is a change in the exhaust note.

Thanks for the replies guys!;)

What would you opt between the magnaflow 14862/14815 and this

Remus Sport Exhaust Rear Silencer Mercedes C-Class | eBay

Does anyone know whether a w202 exhaust fits on my car? Do they have same pipe dimension etc?

I got an offer of £165 including shipping for this remus. I am quite confused how it is so cheap!

Thanks

My carbon mountain bike frame and other bits were sent by them with no issues at all and the dealer said he has always used them to ship to the UK with no issues.

That's great...I still stand by my comment as an international shipper for thirty five years.
They are cost effective until you have a problem and when you do you're dealing with multiple national government entities.
Prefer to pay more, have door to door tracking and immediate payment against an insurance claim if damage or loss occurs in transit.
You get what you pay for.
