Hi again. Whilst mucking about adjusting the Bowden cable to sort out the gearbox I noticed that the plastic thread on the throttle cable adjuster is snapped just before the plastic square retaining lug. Could this be the reason that the throttle doesn't seem as responsive and why I have to put my foot down to the floor to get the car to go, or shouldn't this make any difference.

Get an assistant to operate the throttle pedal in the car and watch to see if the throttle plate lever moves throughout its proper travel.

Just looked at the cable whilst the wife push the throttle and it doesn't appear to be moving as much as it should from what I could see with the air filter in place. Will remove that tomorrow and have another look but how do I know how far it should travel? Should it move all the way to the end of the slider/slot with the throttle fully down? Cheers, Ade.

With the airfilter off look at the operating lever travel and then see if you can move the lever through its range of travel by hand [ don't force anything] you will soon see if its opening the throttle butterfly plate completely. A new cable should not be too expensive.

this might help if its the same as your engine?
