I'd have thought the rear end would have been the same .
Certainly , Watlings list the same bracket for saloons and coupes ; I suspect the only reason the estate one is different is to allow room to clear the fuel tank ( having been under both saloons and estates , albeit without measuring , I'd have to say the chassis members look very similar ) .
My old A4 cabriolet had a towbar as did our EOS, why would a cabriolet not need to tow? Seen plenty W124s on German Ebay with swan neck bars. Not having any luck finding a specific towbar for the cabrio and some say coupe OK but not cabrio.
We put our bikes on a towbar mounted bike carrier, we have a trailer that would be handy allowing us to take the family on holiday to France in the W124 rather than the Volvo V70 and so on.
Looks like the coupe and cabriolet brackets are actually different, that's a pain!
Hi there. Am new to the forum and must be a bit daft as I can't see how to post a message. However this might be a relevant area. I'm looking to buy a C63 AMG to replace my VXR8. However I need to fit a tow bar to it to tow a dinghy, Mercedes say it can be retro fitted buy I'm wondering if anyone knows if it would invalidate the insurance as the original car spec doesn't state a towing ability. Just wonder if that therefore means the C63 is not Type Car Approved. Any help gratefully received and apologies for perhaps not posting in the right area.
