Hoping someone can help. Just replaced my head gasket- all went well except I am left with a mystery vacuum pipe! It has come off the inlet manfold/throttle area somewhere. It lead down to the transmission.
Problem is, I cannot see where it should go on the inlet/throttle. It became detached with a couple others as I replaced the manifold. I think the others are correct but can't be sure. I've got access to WIS but haven't been able to identify on the diagrams there.
It's the one loose here:

Unfortunately not :D

Drove car today, it is thumping into every gear change, I'm assuming due to this vacuum pipe. Hoping someone knows where it should be...

The pipe needs vacuum then. It'll plug into a rubber stub like the white pipe does, and the stub will probably come off the inlet manifold. Probably

Been all over the car today, just cannot see where the pipe should go! If anyone has got a M111 engined W124 and can post a pic of the area I'd be very grateful!

you say manifold has been changed so if it came off manual car then propably won't be anywhere to connect this pipe. I would find another E200 with autobox and look where this pipe goes. you might have pluged one of the others in that slot?

No, manifold hasn't been changed, just removed and replaced when head gasket was done. If anyone does have a e200 nearby I could have a quick look at that would be great too!

Here's a couple of pics that might help?

In particular this one which I believe shows your clear pipe connecting to a flexible between the output connections to one of the under manifold ignition coils.

As folks have said its probably the vacuum take off point for the transmission vacuum modulator bearing in mind your rough changes. Its important to find it as otherwise its a potential manifold inlet leak weakening the mixture. If its a new manifold/engine you have fitted check the old one for vacuum take off points?

That's it!! Thank you so much! The J shaped tube had twisted behind the coils. That pic was fantastic. Just taken it out, all smoothly changing once more.
Thanks again the help- brilliant!

Not my car, not my model, but I enjoyed the fact that you were able to help! Well done!
