I've just rang our insurance company (Admiral) to advise them that we have fitted a towbar to the wife's Picasso, the insurance has about 7 weeks to run and I was charged £19, which I thought was a little excessive but any change to a policy comes with overheads so happily paid. I then asked how much it would cost to add the W124 onto the policy for the remaining 7 weeks (I'ts a multicar policy), I sat down and waited for the laughable amount; if a towbar costs £19 how much would a whole car, without ncd, cost? The answer came back as a crippling £25.
So in short a towbar is just under 80% as risky as a whole vehicle, who knew!? I mean I have caught my shin on them a few times but nothing that would write me off!!
