Well, here we go again!

I had the pleasure (again) of dealing with our wonderful Mr Ian Walker!

He saved me 50% on the Stealer price of supplying and fitting new front discs and pads and let me watch him do it (so I learned something also!).

I've got to say that it really is a pleasure dealing with Ian.

You don't get the bull that you get with the Stealer.

He said to me last week that he'll order in pads and discs and if the discs are not needed he will send them back.

Stealers don;t give this kind of service! They would try to charge you for as much as possible!

Also, how many mechanics take you for a spin in the company Porsche?

I had a blast in the 944 today (well, Ian drove I enjoyed!).

I've got to say that its a 23 year old car but it still goes like pooh off a shovel and Ian drives it like he stole it!

I can't recommend W124 works enough and i'm sure you will all agree that he is probably the friendliest and most straight up mechanic around (apart from ollie of course!;) ).

Over and out!

KJ

Ahem, cough, I now know what it will do on a private road  :bannana: ;) I am not convinced that the new engine is 2.5. I rather suspect its the 2.7 version. This is down to the amount of parts that had to be changed and its increased omph.

And so say all of us!

Mr. Walker at 124Works is a legend. Had my E-Class serviced with him today and couldn't and wouldn't argue with the service and his love of all things Merc! Plus the 944 is superb!

Top man Ian Walker!

Had my ATF change the other week and there's nothing like watching a master at work and having a great chat at the same time.:D

A real gem is the venerable Mr Walker and I can't wait to make a trip up there sometime soon.

Must wangle a ride in that Porsche aswell:devil:

Great job done again!

Well, I had proper VIP treatment at 124works yesterday!

I had the good fortune to be the only car booked into the 'works yesterday and spending the whole day with "our Ian."

The coupe feels wonderful now!

Jobs done:

New radiator supplied and fitted,
New torsion bar brackets fitted (at the front),
New rear springs supplied and fitted,
New horns supplied and fitted (the old ones sounded 13 years old!)
Seat Belt Extender Surrounds epoxy resin glued back in place (the black triangles).

And all for a price much cheaper than what a main dealer would charge you to supply and original radiator!

The only disappointing thing was the fact that the butty shop decided not to open because its a Bank Holiday!!

Can you imagine that?

I was looking forward to a Barm from there as per usual!

I think I'm going to have to write a letter of complaint to the Local Council about it!:D

Anyways, it was a wonderful day.

It's always a pleasure to meet Ian and he doesn't mind you nosing around and watching what he's doing (it's really interesting watching the Master at work!).

Here's to Ian and another job well done!

Regards,

KJ

p.s. Since I've had the car I have had the above carried out as well as the following:

New front Springs, Oil change, Respray.

The next job will be the Head Gasket, New back box (its good right now but will need changing soon to something smarter! - ask Ian he knows of a really smart, but complementing back box!), and New wheels!

Thanks KJ for those kind words. They man a lot to me (ego maybe?). Anyway drove back from KJ's place in my new toy :D:D:D:D see avitar.

Got back today from having my car serviced by Ian and yes he works on bank holidays. My car hasnt been running right for a while and I could not diagnose the problem myself and took it up to Ian.

4 new spark plugs, oil change and new filters later the car was back to how it should be.

124works is what MB service departments were about 10 years ago. Ian is not only a nice bloke but does a complete job. I was getting my car serviced in Liverpool but now will get it looked after by Ian, another job well done.

P.S. My brother's W202 might come up for you to have a look at soon aswell :bannana: :bannana:

Good stuff.

I might be able to sneak a ride once my W126 project is ready to collect from Ian.

If the 944 Still shifts with my 21 stone in it, then its quick ;)

I thought that you had your car back by now, that was ages ago when that was started,, what the hold up ??

Aah so thats yours...... I havent had a look at it while I've been up at Ian's, it looks a nice motor :)
Yep thats mine.

Im wanting to get it freshly resprayed once its done. It has the usual rust issues around the arches im wanting to rectify.

Havent seen the car since i left it with Ian sometime last year. So dreading to see how much more the rust has spread. Other then the obvious engine and gearbox conversion thats goin on and wanting that to be spot on, thats my major other worry- the bodywork.

Gotta admit, missing that damn car :(

Have had to "modify" the sump (again) to miss the crossmember. Engine going back in again this Thursday. Auto leccy fore warned and ready. Brakes in hand and diff ready to slot in.

Yeh, hopfully will be all done and dusted in the next few weeks, and can finally fire it up and show off Ians skills to the world. Not that he requires an ego boost, but it helps... ;)

Fingers crossed.

Will have a in-depth picture/thread of all the work once its done. Hopfully your taking progress pics Ian! :bannana:

Ian's done it again, was up there today for a valve seal replacement as my current ones had gone and were leaking oil. It took Ian half an hour to finish the job and the car is running great. Thanks again 124works. :bannana: :bannana: :bannana:

This isn't fair! I want my 220CE given the "Walker" treatment, it needs some TLC, but Preston's a long old way from Devon!

The next job will be ... New back box (its good right now but will need changing soon to something smarter! - ask Ian he knows of a really smart, but complementing back box!)

Could I ask Ian if he knows of a supplier of 220CE centre sections? Mine was falling apart and has apparently been replaced, but my tame mechanic said it didn't appear to fit properly (he'd already sent one back that was completely wrong), and it sounds just as bad as the old one, rattly, noisy, it's dreadful, the mechanic seems to be having some trouble finding a reliable supplier for exhausts for my car.

cheers,
Toby.

EURO CAR PARTS --- HJS or Erberspacher are OEM for merc. They list the IMAsaf product FOR THE CENTRE BOX which is Italian at £92. I think the coupe has a slightly different system from the saloon--- due to a slightly shorter wheelbase. The MB no for the coupe centre box is 1244903315 the EBER no is 2349182
