I'm currently installing a W140 dimming RVM in my W201 - the physical fitting of it is taken care of (was quite easy), but the wiring has left me uncertain..

There are four wires:

Blue/grey
Pink/Purple
Brown
Pink/Green

Where do they go?? The only one I'm quite certain about is the brown one, which I assume goes to ground..

Does anyone know which ones I need?

Well, Steve told me how which wire I needed (brown=ground, blue/grey=power), and everything is now installed and working superbly - nevertheless I had to disconnect it again, as my stone-age car only has constant power wires up there (well, one is door-activated).. I guess I have to run a wire down to the connectiong point in the driverside footwell then..

Cool feature though, definitively a "must-have" :) Fairly easy as well actually..

All those words and not a picture in sight! Pics please! :)

Oh yeah, and well done! As discussed earlier I'm amazed that the w140 shares mirror parts with the w201! :)

Pics will be posted once this mod is finished! ;)

All I had to do was to drill a hole through my existing mirror pole, as well as to file the opening in the mirror case a little bit larger - the ball that the mirror was squeezed into was the same from both models (might be different on later-model W140s). I'm quite sure the ball from your W123 is the same as well since my car is a 1984..

i fitted one to my 190, i used 3 of the alloy mounting plates (with longer screws) and left the 140 mirror original, and pushed it into those plates.
I then trimmed round those plates...

Your way seems much easier thinking about it!!

It will fit a 123, i have some mirrors, but the 140 one is expensive, a 202/208 one is about £60+vat however.

The problem with the newer style mirrors is that they connect to the pole from above instead of from the rear - if you want to install a mirror like that, it's a good idea to check out how www.2phast.com did it (requires welding'n'stuff).. I got my W140 mirror cheap as it was sold without knowledge of the fact that it was dimming :D

Just a little update, ive found that the 210/202/208 ones fit better if you are using my method...Because of the plastic casing...

Ive also modified mine slightly so the lights under the mirror are both red, and are wired to my aftermarket alarm, and flash when it is armed...

Ricky, do you have any pics of your install? I need to get around and get some of mine soon - can't seem to find time for it :D

No Pics as of yet, but will get some soonish...
