W140 Oil Pressure

Hi, can any of you help on this matter on my S500.

I was driving along and everything was fine. Then when I hit 100mph the oil pressure guage dropped from 3 to zero like a stone. I eased off and the presure jumped back up.
I tried it again and the same thing, as soon as I got over 100 the needle fell. Doesn't seem to be rev related as I tried it in 4th and the needle dropped at the same speed not the same revs.

Is a new pump required or perhaps some other problem?

maybe an electrical problem at the dash, if it 'really dropped' to zero, even for a second you would not have much of your engine left!

I'm inclined to agree with you. I suspect the sensor or somehing behind the dash but didn't want to take any risks so I slowed down.

There are a couple of jobs I want done on it so I'll get the garage to check it out when I take it in.
