W168 A170 CDi What does this part do?

Hi all,

I'm new to owning an A Class so I'm searching the internet for answers to questions that are cropping up. So could someone please tell me what the 'lever' is for at the end of the air filter housing? It appears that it can be rotated up and down and there's a symbol that seems to suggest a pulling action.

Sorry I can explain it any clearer.

You talking about the thing on the right hand side, on a cap going into the air filter housing ?

If so, that is to remove the filter. Rotate, remove, pull the filter out under the wash bottle and manipulate out.

If it's the thing on the left - opposite end, I haven't figured that out either
