Hive mind.
Is it possible to upgrade to better speakers in a 2017 a class?
I have swapped 1 out but it actually sounds worse,
I've fitted rockford fosgate 40w rms / 80w pmpo but there is no bass, the speaker sounds poor compared to factory.
Regards.

What specs were the factory speakers? What’s the end-goal for the speaker upgrades?

If you want more sound, you’d probably be best upgrading the whole shebang. If you just want a bit more bass, have you considered a small active subwoofer? They start from about £100 (I recently fitted a Pioneer TS-WX130 to my MX-5) and really allow you to increase bass without distortion, as you can reduce the bass from the car speakers and have louder, distortion free music.

If you’re wanting better sound quality, then a visit to the audio installer is probably the best bet.

I've just had fitted a Kicker Key 200.4 amp/DSP and door speakers from Ground Zero (think they're called 100MB but not completely sure) all at a cost including fitting and setting up the sound processor of £900 and that's with a £60 discount on the Ground Zeros. Result - well a big improvement but I was perhaps expecting an even bigger one, not blown away to be honest. I think replacing the foot well speaker could improve things further but then you'd be spending well over 1k. The digital sound processor, however, is effective at creating a more believable sound stage, which I didn't think you could easily get in a car. I would do door speakers and foot well woofers before adding any sub but maybe committed bass heads would disagree.

I'm a bit of a bass nerd, and the mod/upgrade seems like such bang-for-buck. And tunable, usually on the unit, for as much (or little) bass intrusion as you like.

Doing 6 plus pairs of speakers, £1k spend and potentially not being satisfied sucks. O guess you need to specify what exactly you want, and go from there.

Haha, sorry for the limited info guys and thanks for the replies.
Basically I find the oem speakers actually give me a headache due to being too tinny, in my opinion.
I'm not really interested in anything flash, just want a better sound quality.
I've also got an android screen to fit simply for dab as fm is crap.
I considered a double din unit but I'm not sure if this will render some functions useless.
The thumb drive wheel is really irrelevant to me so if all functions currently available through that can still be attained through steering controls then I may consider double din again.

Alan.

In hindsight I think that although the Kicker Key DSP is a good unit I think it's a little underpowered and i would probable go for an Audison amp with 80wpc and no DSP. The Ground Zero 100MB speakers though were a very good investment.

Did you get the positive and negative the correct way round ? Black-stripe on modern Merc speaker leads is positive. Brown stripe on older merc is negative. (the other is the solid colour, so you wont have both black and brown on a car) - many assume the black stripe is negative and its wrong. The standard speakers are rubbish but it shouldn't sound worse with that rockford amp. I'd replace the speakers with Morel Maximo Ultra if budget allows

It's Rockford speakers I have fitted, they have worse sound.
I don't have an amp.
Not sure where I would break in to wire one to be honest.
Does anyone know what functionality is lost if a double din stereo is fitted?
I know the led interrior changing bit will go along with the command wheel but I'm not really bothered about either of those, just want better sound,
