W177 wiper arm replacement?

the clips on my wiper arms were damaged on my a35 so I’ve purchased new ones from mb inc new wiper blades.

I thought replacement would be quite an easy job but just found this video on YouTube & it seems a bit tricky..

I can get the wipers to an upright position (in service mode) so don’t need the computer for that, however is there certain measurements / tolerances required when fitting the arms (per video)

Am I alone in thinking that its utterly ridiculous that you need to use software to enable something as simple as wiper arm change? Tech for tech sake.

I had a windscreen changed on my W177 and cannot imagine that the fitters went through that rigmarole.

Personally, I’d push the current arms while in their park position to remove any play in the mechanism and put tape on the windscreen to mark their position. I’d then remove them and fit the new arms to line up with the tape marks. Job done.
