mb w202 2,0
Hi i got a mb w202 95 2.0 automatic. But i cant start it it cranks but wont
start. I cant tell whats the problem.

Maybe somebody can tell me what could be the problem?

No fuel

No ignition

No compression or vacuum

Crank shaft position sensor

Fuel pump relay...can you hear the pump buzzing when you switch on the ignition?

No point guessing, cover the basics in post#2 then let us know what you have
or haven't got.

Ok the fuel pump is not priming when the ignition is on. And i have a wery strange thing from yeasterday. When you crank the car and press the gas a litle it locks and stops cranking... and when you turn the key back it opens.

Maybe its something with the imo or something. Btw i am a new mb owner so i dont know were everything is...

Thank you.

if you have a dealer fitted or after market alarm/immobiliser fitted its probably that- they go faulty with time- they usual act on the fuelpump relay/ OVP relay/ starter solenoid = one or more of these. As the car cranks over its not the starter solenoid. Other possibility --from your symptoms---- is a faulty ignition switch.

Its been fitted with a viper alarm so maybe its that how i can disable it or check if its the immobiliser? Or how to disable it?

You need the Viper circuit diagram/installation notes to check where its connected into the car's wiring. Usually the main alarm control unit is fitted behind the dash somewhere or it may be part of the siren assembly. Its possible these will be online if you can find out the model of alarm/siren you have installed. That or go back to whoever installed it.

If an aftermarket alarm/immobiliser , there is usually a disable switch , and a key to operate it which you should have got .

The favourite place for the switch is in the glovebox . You may be able to turn the system off allowing your car to start .

Certainly the Scorpion ones which were standard MB dealer fit back in the day were wired this way . On all of the cars I've had fitted with these things ( there have been several ) the control boxes were always under the kick plate in the passenger footwell , with the sounder in the engine compartment .

I try everything still nothing I took out the hole system and I still don't have fuel and spark.

As explained above the alarm system usually breaks the supply to the fuel pump relay or the OVP relay. If you remove the alarm you have to rejoin the connections that the alarm wiring broke into- Without this the car will be completely disabled permanently.

I have done it and it's still not working were is the ovp relay and does this relay effect both ignition and fuel.

The OVP powers the ECU and ABS among other things. Both fuel and ignition are controlled by the ENGINE ECU if its not getting 12volts nothing will happen. CHECK THE TWO FUSES ON THE TOP. What type of engine ECU have you got. You may have the early PMS type which often go wrong- unfortunately they can't be repaired. If you have the later HFM type they can be repaired. Post a picture of the engine compartment.

Hi Laurutiss. Did you get this sorted? If not, I agree with Grober, (who has helped me a lot) A couple of years ago I had a problem where my car wouldn't start. Sometimes it would fire and run for a few seconds and then die. When she wouldn't start I couldn't hear the fuel pump. Eventually bought an overvoltage protection relay unit from Ebay (£15) changed it over and solved the problem.

Gentle man i am currently driving a similar model of MB C180 W202 2000 Edition. I have for the past 3 weeks been unable to solve this issue I only drove this car once & then then it overheated & had the head redone & reassembled the engine checked the timing using the Owners MB W202 manual it cranks but doesn't start checked the fuel pump , Fuel relay relay now I'll check the OVP relay...I hope it starts because I recently just bought me this MB as a secondary vehicle otherwise I'll just park it & go back to my Audi A5 which my wife won't be happy about .Grober thanks for the advise you guys are so helpful
