W202 C220 override

Hi,
This alarm is effectively stand alone, though it does interface with central locking it does not interface with the cars computer it has its own I have had mine dissconnected for over a year at one point, though I did bypass the immobiliser part of the system.
The car still remote locked, and the full closure still worked, as this was a feature of the car rather than the alarm.

So if i pull the 3 wires off the alarm, will that send the immob crazy ? Why did you disable your immob ?

I agree with Andy, mine is the same set up and given the year of your the car, yours is probably the same.
The key switch, in your case, on the siren, is there for the purpose of disabling the alarm and or the siren, if there is a back up battery inside it then you will have to burry the siren in the garden for a while until it goes quiet.

On mine the immobilizer is controlled soley by the flip out key so disabling the alarm doesn’t affect the immobilizer

No Dec, it isnt, key switch ONLY disables the back up battery, the leaflet says its there purely for that, for when you want to disconnect the car battery, & iv already got that switched off

My immobiliser is controlled by the fob button , so thats not the same either.

Is this your set up here?

Well you appear to have the same set up as me.

The Scorpion fob will lock the car and arm the alarm when the left button is pressed, when left button is pressed again it will unlock the car and disarm the alarm, it has nothing to do with the immobelizer.

The flip out key will lock the car and enable the imobeliser but it has nothing to do with the alarm, when flip out key button is pressed again it will unlock the car and disable the immobiliser.

That’s how it is on mine, I think yours may be the same, but there are a lot of different versions of these alarms, however you do have 3 wires going into siren, I only have 2, that’s because I don’t have a back up battery inside mine.

Disconnect the siren and see what happens.

These alarms are not very good anymore and play about somthing cronic. Get an alarm installer to remove it all and throw it away.

Ok,that sounds right, so are you saying you think it'll behave if i pull the 3 wires off the alarm ?

Not sure about the disconnection actually. Try it?????

It's been a while since I have seen them most of those alarms don't work properly and have been disconnected years ago.

There are not many pre-facelifted 202's around anymore either.

My main worry is that disconnecting it will upset the ECU or the immobiliser, Dec says not, do you agree ?

If you have two motion sensors, one either side of the dash then the could be the cause of the false alarms, if your Scorpion fob is the same as mine then it will have a Slider switch on its edge, this is for disabling or enabling the internal motion sensors…( if you wanted t leave a dog in the car but still lock and arm the alarm)

When the Slider switch is pushed in one direction it disables the motion sensors and the indicators flash 2 times when locking the car, alarm armed.

When the Slider switch is pushed in the other direction it enables the motion sensors and the indicators flash 3 times when locking the car, alarm armed.

Also there is a 12v battery inside the Scorpion FOB, if that battery was dead when you last armed/locked the car then it is possible that you have been driving around with the alarm ARMED all the time because the dead battery didn’t have the power to disarm the alarm.

I know it is possible to drive the car with the alarm armed because I have done it.

Thanks again Dec, id already covered the dash sensors with tape,& turned the slider switch off. I'm going to remove alarms cables this morning.

Wires from alarm now removed, car still works, result ! :thumb:

Thanks again guys :D

When you lock the car now do the indicators give any flashes?

I wasn’t sure what wires you were disconnecting, I presume it’s the siren, in any case that solves the false alarm problem, however the alarm is still active if the indicators flash when locking with the Scorpion Fob as all that you have done is disconnect the siren.

If the alarm was to go off again as in another false alarm then the indicators will flash for about a minute (sirens not going to sound as it is disconnected)
To test, you could lock yourself in the car using the Scorpion fob, wait about 1 minute then open the door, and this should trigger the alarm and cause the indicators to flash for around a minute or so.

The reason I’m asking is that if the alarm is not switched off then it will be drawing about 30 to 40ma from the battery, that is not a lot to a healthy battery on a car that is used every day however if a battery was is in poor condition then that small current draw would be quite severe and might result in a flat battery.

Is there a red LED anywhere on the dash to show when the alarm is armed?
