Evening all,

I'm getting a 'cyclical' clanging noise coming from the right hand side rear suspension on my W202 C240. It usually starts after a few mins of driving and when the car is swung to the left.

To help things along, I attached my gopro camera to the car and went for a drive, so you can clearly hear the clang.

ANy advice on what it could be is appreciated. My thoughts so far is that it is the drive shaft, however on inspection both boots seem to be clean and dry, and there doesnt seem to be excessive play.

Has has also just passed an MOT with no advisories on the bushes - all the arms and bushes seem nice and tight.

Check to see if the spring has not broken in the cup where it sits.

The spring has been inspected, no sign of snapping..

Almost certainly a spring gone as above. Telling thing is you hear it when its loaded up by weight transfer to that side. Only way to tell for sure is to drop the arm. An inspection from the side can't tell for sure-- even MOT guys can miss this. Other possibilities are a broken drop link from the roll bar- one of the roll bar mounts is broken off or the shocker bush has collapsed. ---- spring still the likely candidate.

As an update to this (sold the car 2 years ago, but thought i'd update!).

This was caused by a brake pad rattling about the caliper, due to the retainer being fitted the wrong way around!
