W202 C55 Amg

working for a dealer about 4 yrs ago i remember brousing the Autotrader
and a W202 C55 was for sale,it was 18k very low miles and owned by royalty the
advert said.In that issue there was a C36 AND C43 all on the same page
and remember thinking for 35k you could have had the comlplete set,i was
lookig for a c36 at the time:eek:.The c36 seems to hold its value very well
looking at todays prices,im now thinking about a c43 but could do with a
test drive..

You'll want the C43 after a test drive - bags better than the C36, although think about petrol/insurance/maintenance. The C36 M104 engine is suppost to be one of the best Mercedes ever made.

Running costs arnt a prob as i use a van most of the time but i need
driving pleasure and performance oh and a nice sound:D

i know someone who has a C43 with a E55 engine in it, apparently fits striaght into the C43 as the bulkhead is a different size\shape to other C classes (even the C36) because of the V8.

He had just sourced a E55 Kompressor engine when i saw him last about a year and a half ago, and he was going to put that in his C43, im on a mission to try and look him up now!

It would be cheaper buying a C43 and sourcing a 55 or 55 Komp engine!

Just driven past a 744 silver, W-reg C-class 202 estate, with an avantgarde grille and genuine AMG wheels/interior/bodykit/exhaust, badged as a C55 AMG. Looked pretty genuine to me, if I wasn't in a hurry I would've got some pics. It was near Shepherds Bush in West London.

Quite rare if it's the real deal?

Will, that may be the one I spotted in Chelsea with the plate P1 JOY - The plate isn't listed anymore so I guess the car was sold. When I looked it up on RAC at the time it was listed as a C55 AMG so was genuine. It was silver and was not in good condition at all with dents all round.

Sounds quite likely then, it was definately a W reg, full plate - eg W123 ABC.

I only chanced upon it but if I'm going that way again soon I'll pop past and try and snap a picture or two (or at least grab the reg!)

Didn't look in too bad nick as I passed, but then I didn't get out and look closely though. Was clean(ish) at least.

The link doesn't work for me and I can't find it doing a search on "C55"....can anyone point me in the right direction? Doh! I see the posting was form some time ago!!!!

Mark,

That original link was in a post from August last year, hence it's no longer valid.

I do know the owner though, seen the car in the flesh, it's awesome.

So if the C55 estate that I saw earlier on was the real deal, and I know where at least one of the saloons currently is, where's the other one?

Did you get my email + pictures btw?

Will

Hi Will, Yes I did and I mailed you baack to say thanks and to let you know that the vendor didn't tell me anything about you coming back to see the car!
