Did a brake pad job yesterday on my '97 C250 TD & for the life of me I cannot remember how this spring refits. Tried it every way it could go but the car doesn't seem to like any of them.

Anyone got a picture of the spring properly installed in the correct position?

A photo of the way we left it.

Current thinking is we have located the ends of the spring on the wrong, under side of the tab/ledge instead of resting them on top, if you see what I mean.

Wheels off to try that later this a.m.

Now you just need to replace those horribly worn and lipped discs!!! Personally I would not have put new pads on those old things. They are not expensive if bought aftermarket.

Nor I. He's in danger of his caliper pistons popping out.

Nowhere near that.... in fact I've never seen that on any car no matter how thin the discs and pads were worn...especially with brand new pads like he has. That would be a major design fault. Have you ever removed a piston from a caliper... they are pretty long. I would think that they are getting close to min thickness though.

It's a C250 TD. They could survive the apocalypse........
