Hi guys! I have fitted 6K H7 HID's to my 2000 W202 C200 and it was fine for 2 weeks until sunday! all of a sudden one stopped working.! i checkd the wiring etc and all was fine! then i decided to check the fuses and it had gone... As i didnt have ne spare fuses here i swapped over the fuses from the left to the right and as soon as i switched the lights on it blew out! Any ideas on the fault? the car is at mercedes-benz right now and i dont really wat a big bill! on the same side the week before i was upgrading my side lights to led's and as it didnt work i moved it about a bit and it started smoking and hasnt worked since.. could that lead to my main HID light to blow out a fuse??? all help appreciated!

Are they OEM or aftermarket HID's ?

If they are H7 i'm guessing they are aftermarket .

Yeah they are aftermarket ones! ma mate ordered em and apparently they r german ones :S

Doubt MB will do anything if they aren't OEM Xenons.

The xenon transformer makes a big step up ( 12v to 25000v ) , so i would imagine it has gone wrong and cooked something.

Could be a fine nick in the wiring harness where the metal body is touching the wire or possibly a faulty ballast..??

Scotchloks are how Satan (and Halfords) wires things into cars; they often fail spectacularly, with smoke. They clip onto existing wires without having to cut the wire.

I used an Ebay seller called Diane-shop for HID's. They have been super reliable. Had my last set on my last car two and a half years ago-far as I know they still work with the new owner, but the car is slightly dead as he melted no2 & 3 pistons! Tool!
They make a huge difference don't they? First mod I made to the Wagon.

yeah i love HID's/// they look the dogs b******s! haha! well ma mates put them into a lot of his golfs n that! the kit looked pretty good..! haha! yeah us "kids" know nothing :p lol!ah well... i midd my car now! shes been gone since 10am :(

Out of interest, my (factory) xenons only seem to "fill" the top half of the headlight when you look at the front of the car with them switched on, were yours like this or did they fill the headlight like traditional ones do?

yeah thats right they do too! this is because of the integrated front fog lamps mate.. you will see a trapezium shaped line around the bottom and this is for the integrated fog lamps

Hi,
As Howard says I doubt that MB will touch your HID kit other han to remove them (if so instructed.
When you get the car back unplug the HID kit and reconnect a Halogen lamp, if it still blows the fuse its a fault with the car, if the fuse remains intact and the Halogen lamp is ok it will be a dodgy HID kit.

yeah good idea mate.... thanks for the advice... i think thats what im going to have to do... the left hand side is fine! it was just the right hand side!!! but it worked for 2 weeks which is what i dont get... if it was a dodgey kit then it should have gone pretty much str8 away!

Hi,
For information, C43's indeed any W202 with bumper mounted fog lights, do not have the intergrated fog light in the headlight, the foglight function is removed from the headlight via an additional loom and this takes the feed down to the front bumper mounted fog light units.

OH right i see...! even tho mine is the Elegance, i have the integrated ones with my main headlights!
