W202 manual reverse lights not working

Hi I've got a c200 1998 and the reverse lights aren't working bulbs are ok and there's no bulb out warnings any ideas?

Fuses are ok I'm thinking there's a connector around the gearstick?

So I'm guessing I take the gaiter off and I should see the switch? It's one of those annoying things you put off for ages then try to reverse in a dark spot and it's a pain, new years first job for me I think thanks for the tip

You also might check the loom which leads up inside the trim of the bootlid. It develops breaks as you open and close the boot. I had this problem and sorted it by cutting open the 'bladder' and checking for breaks in the wires themselves. The loom is in the right trim which covers the arm of the bootlid.

You need to take the pannel off that surounds the gear lever, you wont see the switch through the gaiter hole.

fixed!! took off the surround and found the switch, cleaned her out with wd40 pressed switch a few times put it back together and hey presto!!
