W202 Overheating!!!!!!!!!!!!!

re thanks

no problem glad to help :) :)
i rang my friend at a local stealership and he checked with the service tech and he said go for the relay
but take the old one off and undo the 4 screws if the circuit in side looks like water has been on itie dirty / grey its time to replace the new ones are up graded ie not prone to water ingress
do not pay for mbz to fit it you will have 1.5 hrs labour and £125 bill plus vat
best part of £300
when diy for £125 all in

well, my mate came round today with a brand new fan control relay.....the old one did look knackered.

he plugged it in and the fan still did'nt kick in....even at 90 degrees!:( :( :(

he checked all the fuses................and the relays.

he suggested that the fault in the car memory may need to be cleared with the diagnostics kit........he said that the car THINKS the relay is faulty and will not recognize the new one until the faults are cleared??????

is this right?

he's coming back with the computer in an hour..........hope it works::(

will keep you guys informed.....

The latest problem with the over heating is that i need a new fan!:( :( :(

so, with the new fan control relay gone in, no joy! I tried german and swedish for new fan.....they do not stock it.....euro car parts can have it orderrd in for £94.00 +VAT.........

does anyone know where i can get one from....part number A 100 5001993, - engine cooling fan...........

NOT A GOOD TWO WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i'm back again peeps......

the latest is that it was not the fan or the fan control relay?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

the cable going from the fuse box to the fan control relay had a kink in it somewhere...................rather than locate the kink, my technician ran a new cable from the fuse box to the fan control relay and now the fan works fine..........:) :) :)

however, the air con doesn't work now....had it topped up yesterday but no cool air!!!!!!!

could this have something to do with the old cable that had a kink in it?

the air con guy said there was no power going to the pump........

things just go from bad to worse:confused:

any help would be appreciated................

There should be a temp sensor switch attached to engine block normally near the thermostat housing. It gives ground connection to activate the fan relay. I am not sure of the exact location but it carries a single wire connection. If you pull out the wire and ground it, the fan should come on with the ignition on at any temp. Then the switch is faulty. It is not an expensive gadget.
If the fan does not come on, then look for the relay.
Shan.

thanks shan.....but the engine fan is working.......the same fan runs the air con........when it was tested, there was no power going to the pump....the clutch at the front was not spinning............

no 12v signal.......however it does work every now and then....cool air does come through but then it switches off...............

this is why i think that thecable with the kink in it also splits off and powers the pump...........:(
