Hello everyone,I'm new to this site/forum & what a good forum it is.I have a 1994 c220 auto. which is not behaving its self. When I go to pull away from stand still it will stall unless I am very gentle with the throttle.I took it to a local garage who told me it needed a new timing chain ( it has rattled since the day I got it) & when conected to a diagnostic machine it had a manifold fault code come up.They suggested that because the chain was soo worn it was throwing the timing out.So this weekend gone I changed the chain & fitted a new tensioner. But this has made no difference. It doesn't rattle quite so loud now. Also when I took out the spark plugs the ends were not a nice biscuit brown, they were an orange/red colour, which can't be right.Has anyone one got any suggestions as to what the problem might be.

have you checked for a broken earth strap to engine or very poor one

Cheers horgantrevor I will give that a try.Is that the one that goes to a engine/gearbox bolt.

Orange red coloured plugs could mean rust/water in the fuel= possible fuel tank/pump/filter/lines problem. May mean a low fuel pressure/ weak mixture problem. A weak mixture by itself would normally give you light coloured plugs.
