Any ideas chappies how long it should take to change a Water pump on my car ?, cheers,T.

Maybe 3 hours and then a couple of days to source and replace the radiator you put the spanner through! ;)

With right tools a hour

If first time two or more

Take your time loosing bolts at they can sheer
On pump and pace in a piece of card board as some are long . Short , medium , in length
Once fan is off it's just unbolt
Old replace with new

I would also replace coolant as I was at it

NOT THE BEST VID BUT MIGHT HELP?

Cheers Graham, thanks for video. Think I'll get rid of the car first .ha

My advice is don't buy a cheap pump... I'm having to the change the circoli (from ECP) pump I fitted only a year and a half ago. Annoyingly a bolt snapped on the fan magnet so I'm off the road for more days waiting for it to arrive. Lots of aggro and wasted cash. :(

Try Wunderpartz for your bits. Great prices and quality German parts and great customer service.T.

as horatio said dont use a cheap pump or you will be doing this job twice

Wunderpartz are great but the pump they have on ebay for my car is a "trucktec" which I haven't heard of. Ended up forking out for genuine MB. The original lasted 22 years!

Bought mine from ECP over 2 years ago and not a single problem. Fitted it myself, took a few hours. Make sure you make note of the small group of wires that sit behind one of the bolts as you remove the pump, if these are not put back in the same place when you fit the new pump it will get in the way of the belt (job took 3hrs instead of 2hrs because of this error) Did not remove the radiator just carefully removed the bolts using a small socket set with an extension. With the 30% discount I got the part for £35 only. Got the cheapest one they do.
