dont forget to swich your wipers off auto when you park up this weather, otherwise like me you will get a nasty surprise when you switch the ignition on and the windscreens frozen
Personally I'm not a great fan of auto wipers, they are too frequent on my car and annoying in very light rain. Have to say I prefer my old BMW, had a switch with about 4 positions/delays - you could select the intermittent speed you wanted.
Just my 2c worth!
Other manufacturers fit sensitivity switches which sort out that problem. Not sure why MB do not, although it would complicate the multifuntion switch even further I suupose.
My old Peugeot did that - exactly how it should be in my view. Wifey's new Honda Jazz will try to wipe on start-up if left on auto (as she *always* does). It does have selectable sensitivity on the stalk though, which seems handy but in practice none of the 5 settings is quite right!
Fantastic feature when in auto you open the door and the wiper stops so you dont get rain thrown over you. Or for that matter when you are pouring luke warm water over the screen to defrost - keep door open and then close when ready.
'pouring luke warm water over the screen to defrost' - do people really do this? Have always thought that deicer was the best way forward - apart from it's effect upon the environment of course.
My previous car had a sun roof... would have been nice if it had a feature preventing the windscreen washer jets from working when the sun roof is open....
