W203 battery prob?

Today my son was sat in the car while I was off out and was running his MP3 through the aux in. Everything in the car was off apart from comand but after a few minutes it said that to save the battery Comand would switch off in 3 minutes. Is this a standard Mercedes safety thing or is my battery weak?

Standard feature of comand.

How old is the battery? The genuine mb batteries are good for about 8 years. They have a date stamp on one of the terminals.

Mine does the same. My battery is probably due for replacement in the not too distant future, but I suspect the message is being overly cautious.

Blooming heck that was quick.! Thank you The battery is about 6-7 years old but on the dash hidden menu it normally shows 13v. I'll check it again tomorrow. Thankyou for a lightening quick reply!

My battery is approx 1yr old and COMAND will shutdown after ~30min running with IGN off

I don't have Command in my W204, but if I listen to the radio while parked up I get a similar message about shutting down in three minutes, I mean what the heck, a radio can't be that big a drain surely, having to sit in silence is a pain.

its there just in case you leave it on in error.

I think there is a way to over ride that.
