Hi,

Just got the car back from the garage after getting few bits and bobs sorted..
Decided to give it a quick scan.. Came back with one fault..

P0101 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Range/Performance Problem

There are no lights on and I haven't noticed any performance issues either.

What would be the cause? Is the MAF on its way out/dead?

If so what's the best place to get another one? Is it possible to change the sensor itself instead of the whole thing?

I checked ECP and Siemens one is around £200.. checked ebay and I can get one for about 40 quid... Probs some crap that will die after 5 mins though..

I don't want to buy some rubbish but don't really fancy sticking another £200+ into it right now.. (Just had service, new lower arms, transmission service etc so I'm poor right now)

Thanks!:thumb:

hi,
if the MAF is dead of on its way to die, you should feel it on performance... the car does not respond and there should be a lack of poder somewhere...
if it is just an error code, it could be on memory but not really afecting you...
I had a MAF problem recently and believe me... you should feel it below 2000 rpm... the poder just isn't there... I cleaned mine, but some say that replacing is the best repair... Pierburg of Bosch are both very good and the first one I believe to have read somewhere that it equipes CDIs at factory door...

Thank you for your reply.
I guess the best option would be to clean it and see if it goes away.. Fingers crossed haha

Had a quick look.. Looks like a pita to take out but I Will try to do it this weekend..

If all fails anybody knows where I could get one for a good price in Uk? As I mentioned ECP want £200 for the Siemens one.. When searching online it's mainly ebay that pops up..

My advise if Please DO NOT BUY a non OEM. They will fail. Buy original only as they are a precise piece of equipement !

try to look for this reference: pierburg 7.22684.09.0 and see what comes up...

Ok so I managed to get the air box out.. Gee..

Looked at the MAF and it looks a bit cheapish.. No branding no numbers on it..nothing.. Wondering if the previous owner stuck some cheapo part in.

Anyhow.. Looking inside..looks like its broken.. Don't know how to explain it (should have taken a pic) almost looks like 2 fuse wires running across..one of them broken.. Not sure if its meant to look like that.. Ha

I did it before I read your replies so I didn't check the rubber pipe.. Will need to do it all again tomorrow if I get a min. But I have a feeling that the MAF is the fault..

Thanks Paulo I will try to look for it now..

Only had the car for few weeks.. What a pay it's been so far haha

And to add to all of this i found another thing.. Unplugged the ecu.. And it seems that there is a little oil on it.. Will post pics in a sec..wtf haha

So now I'm on a search for some cheapish Maf (possibly pipe) and finding out info on oil in wiring lol what a nightmare.

Cam magnets on the front of you engine, you can buy loom "blockers" from Mercedes to stop the oil going into you engine harness.

Just in case anybody is interested.. got a new siemens MAF fitted. Also bought 2 "blockers" from MB. £23 each..

Will keep an eye on the ECU loom for oil.

How hard is it to fix those leaky magnets?

Do I still need to fix it or will those started leads (blockers) do the job?
