W203 c200k variator????

Just had the car in the garage several times as every time you touch the throttle the car makes a gravelly vibrating noise from the front. Sounds a bit like a knackered bearing. The garage have quoted 600 and up to fix this. Anybody know any cheap fixes or had a similar problem.? It's a manual as well.

No such part.

Do they mean the camshaft advance?

If it is the cam advance then there is no choice but to replace it.
