Hi Guys,

Following from this thread looking for a C180 coupe:

http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/general-discussion/120709-merc-swmbo.html

Went to see one last night everything is sweet apart from the Pano roof not working?

Is this going to be a headache to get fixed or is it a simple fuse/relay issue we reckon?

Its just stuck dead, no tilt, no slide.

Also, do these pano's come with a roller roof shade?

If the motor is dead they are not cheap.

If the roof mechanism is dead. Run a mile.

They often require a fair bit of messing to get them to work... Often these coupes come in with dead rooves.

It normally is a case of freeing the mechanism off, a lot of lubrication and a lot of vanish spray afterwards to clean the roof lining!

We have only ever replaced one motor.

Thanks guys,

I can hear a clicking noise comming from the switch module so i know there is feed.

The roof shade stops at every second when you press for it to go back, i.e. you have to press it 10 times to fully retract it to reveal the sexy roof! I dont think thats working as it should either.

I need everything to work and in tip top shape, these niggles will bug the crap outta me.

think ill give this one a miss.

seen a nice 06 one with cream leather, and elec driver seat, pano roof that actually works!

it might just need resetting if the battery has been disconnected recently ?

Hi mate,

how do you reset?

you have to fully close the sun blinds ,then hold the switch for a couple of seconds . then fully open them and hold for a few seconds .
then you should be able to open the sunroof , then close and hold the switch again .
and then it should work ok .

i had to do this on mine recently after olly did some work on it .

i thought he had broken it:p until i read about the reset in the owners manual

ok so do you hold the switch for a few seconds in the close position i.e. going fwd?

gosh this trick sounds to good to be true!

actually come to think of it, when i fully close the blind the motor goes nuts and starts clicking like mad tuk tuk tuk! so im thinking holding the switch for a few seconds might cause more harm. i dont even think the motor should even do that? it should just stop when its in the close position with no drama...just like my 124 :D

yes , in the close position as well

don't remember the motor going mad , but the sunroof wouldn't open and had the same thing with closing the blind .

Im just not sure about the silver one now, having thought about it long and hard the search will continue.

Next up is a 2006 c200. I believe it has more in terms of BHP and torque i think 163 compared to 143.

1 lady owner
21k on the clock
gun metal grey colour
Panoroof - that actually works!
Xenons
Parking sensors
Electric drivers seat
Cream leather interior, this looks awsome i must admit.

wish us luck!

Good Luck Billy. So far you are letting your wallet and brain rule you impulse.

Long may it continue.

Thanks Trapper,

Ive gone past the thinking that it is not going to be a 'run about' car anymore and the term for it if purchased would be wrong.

I need somthing that we can just get in and drive, nothing else. I got my 124 to tinker with!

Yes you are right on this occasion my impulse for once is being over ruled!

Its her's and although its 'ours' she'll be making most use of it and i dont want her to be disheartened when things go barry.

It'll be her first merc and I want to introduce her to the marque properly you see!:bannana:

The good thing is this 06 car is from the same private trader so deposit isnt lost. He's been ok with me bugging him nearly every evening this week comming to check it out until im completely sure.

Last night i took it for a drive. Drives nicely but somthing wasnt right...i dont know what but certainly not right.
