For the W203, I've noticed a very dark (almost) black interior wood trim for the dash and doors. I believe it is Bird's Eye Maple. If not under that name for the 203, it's certainly almost identical in colour as the Bird's Eye Maple trim for W210s.

Can someone please confirm for me the name of this trim, and once idenified, how much this trim costs to buy separately? :)

Many thanks in advance,

Darren

Birds eye Maple is the only one listed,,I have just refinished painting some walnut trim black,,I cant do Birds eye so it is piano black with 4 coats of plastic lacquer.

In a couple of days I will polish it

Its birds eye maple and was only available on the W203 Avangtgarde for around £160 upgrade over the aluminium

No not done the steering wheel yet,,I thought if I did the trim panels first, and it did not work out, then i could always sell the wheel for profit.

It did work out OK so now the wheel:)

Hi Darren,

All the centre console parts are here.

I did the mod earlier this year, click on the link in my sig for the results.

It's many times better than the standard "alu-bling"!

Cheers

Thanks for the link Brian :)

So £190ish for the centre console parts.
In addition to those, there's Alu-trim on each of the doors and by the electric window switches. And that's it as far as alu-trim is concerned, yes?

Darren

It should work out cheaper for the centre console parts depending on where you source them.

I only did these parts, as the doors are trimmed to match the seats.

An MB Dealer should be able to give you the remaining part numbers based on those of already discussed.

Cheers

Brian

That is an extremely good price.

We changed a whole car from aluminium trim to walnut for a client and the parts alone (including the door panel trims) were about £600. I am at present changing my A class from aluminium to designo black and the parts will have cost circa £600 by the time i'm done. Just have the gear selector surrond (~£236) to go, part on order!

i need to get a bhur wood centre console trim fro my pre-facelift w203 any ideas where to get it from and part number, im going from light wood to dark wood, got all the parts minus the center one!

hmm... i know panio balck would look good, but i must add admit that i thought merc used wood venner or the stick on vinal stuff, as i remember my dads old nissan and when i was young i peeled it off!, but when i was taking the merc apart i realised (by that i mean i broke it!) that the trim was actually real wood and quite like the look thats why i changed it to the darker wood thats found in advangarde models, i would have liked birds eye maple but got bhur colour by chance and liked the contrast.

would love to see the finished result television, and would like to know how hard wearing it is, with 3 nices and nephews it has to withstand them and not the test of time!

Its finished in plastic coating,, you can put boiling water on it without damage and its very hard 2 component lacquer, It was walnut matt finish

What did you use, as i take it the products are not from halfrauds. might give it a try on the CLK

The black was standard and a Halfords can could be used, gloss paint is stronger than gloss, though one could use matt

The top plastic coating is "Rustins" 2 component its strange stuff in the it dries when sprayed on in 2 mins, but stays wet in the mixing jar for 2 days.

I used a baby spray gun that I used to use for door shuts, it has no fan but these things are too small for a fan. the finished coat has been flatted with 1500 paper and polished with T cut and then a plastic polish.

The steering wheel was hard as you could not get the correct angle on the gun, but the top coat flowed and I will not polish that
