06' C220 CDI Facelift
Hello, iv had my c220 cdi 06 plate for about 9 months now and it has run smoothly. Had few parts replaced but no biggy as its on 160k on the clock. Few days ago while driving home (thankfully on my street) the engine cut off in D. Confused, i turned it off started again and again it shut down. Took me a few tries to slowly get home as it lasts about 3-5 seconds before it turns off on me. Got the car home and its been doing the same thing since, i was stumped so i took it to my local indie. He connected his cheap obd2 reader first and it said P0201 P0204 Injector Cylinder 1 and Injector Cylinder 4. He said he only connected that to give him a rough idea of where to start so then he hooked up his star and it said the same thing.

I have left the car with him for the past two days and he has been testing and diagnosing what could be wrong with it. He told me yesterday that he tested the injectors and they are fine, that he has few injectors in his garage that are working and after replacing he got the same error. Checked the voltage readings on all four injectors and its fine too. He said that the sensors of both ends of the fuel rail is giving low readings and that is the only thing he can find that could be the fault.

As i recall, it happened when i was bang on quarter tank, (i filled up around £15 while the car was outside my house but no luck), so i mentioned to him could it be something related to the fuel pump or high pressure sensor. I found this by searching on this forum as there are plenty of threads regarding this. He said that initially he thought this too but after checking properly he said that isnt the issue and the fuel pump is ok.

I asked him for a quote for the sensors and he called back this morning saying that Mercedes does not sell both sensors on its own that i would have to purchase the common rail and both sensors for £556 (with garage discount and vat). Im stumped as its a lot of money and im not quite sure what to do next.

Any advice will be highly appreciated. Thank You.

Hi.

Realise it is a 8+years old car with a 160k on. From now on it will slowly give you troubles. Get used parts from the web at cost of a fraction. This is what I do. Honestly, you will not have this vehicle till 2020. Apologise if I've been rude. Thanks

welcome to the forum (both of you) :)

Probably low fuel pressure on the return side (faulty fuel pump).

Check the drivers side saddle tank under the rear seat its probably empty.

I believe I have the same problem

My W203 C220 CDI 2004 was running perfectly recently. However now is parked outside my house and fails to start (engine turns over but does not start). I scanned for codes and got P0201 P0202 P0203 P0204 all injector related.

At the same time I noticed that the engine compartment where the fuse box and ecu is located was flooded with water. I determined that this was due to a block drain hole. I have now cleared the blockage and the car now starts.

However if I leave the car for a long period and try to start, it will start of 3-4 seconds and cut out. If I try to start it again it starts fine with no other problems. The codes it now gives when the ending cuts out is P0201 and P0204.

In spite of the codes, it sounds like a CPS (crank sensor) fault to me.
