hey

been browing this site for quite a while over the past few months, there seems to be plenty of masters of problem solving on here which is great as they say knowledge is power.....now im not a very happy person at this moment, got a few problems with my c220 cdi avantgarde on a x plate, i previously had a 96 c180 sport which was spot on never had any major problem with it for 7 years however this car is slowly hacking me off and im wondering if thers any kind peeps out there who can help me, heres my list of problems......(hope you dont fall asleep reading the list!)

got a 2 kind of ticking noises coming from the dash to do with the heating system, iv read previously on here its something to do wiv stepping motors and is an expensive job from dealers. I have had a report from dealers which is set out below but i do not understand whats gone, what needs fixing and what needs replacing(im not the brightest spark to be honest as you will gather)

the report looked like this

This means bugger all to me I hope someone understands this jibberish and can explain to me in simple english what the problem is. I am also looking for someone to fix this but not from dealers so if anybody knows how to fix this or knows of someone then I am prepared to pay a reasonable price.I live in the Leeds area and am prepared to travel 100miles or so max for this you can email me below
[email protected]
Also sometimes get a headache from the heater, not sure if linked.

Now problem number 2.

My passenger side window as its going up reaching near the top it automatically reverses and goes down???
My passenger door mirror doesnt work and doesnt fold in????(I have had a new door put on due to an accident, would that have anything to do with it?,was were both working fine prior to new door even after fitted a moth ago, just last couple of days.

Problem number 3

I have a squeeking noise coming from rear. it sounds like rusty/broken springs but I have had them replaced and some sort kind of bush replaced but the noise is still there. The springs and shocks are fine and so are rest of the bushes. The noise is worse on start and as car is driven and gets warmer the squeeking gets less?

and finally my latest problem

I drive my car with care and dont normally put my foot down but when i have needed power its always been there and i have just noticed when i need that power i am not getting that kick in surge, the speed does go up but not nowhere near as fast as it should also the speed limits to 3000 revs in each gear even in tiptronic mode, I can hear the hissing from the turbo so that seems to be working.can any1 help?

so may I ask all you masters out there is there anyone that can help me turn this nightmare back into a dream car......I am slowly losing the will to live lol

Thanks in advance and look forward to hearing from you guys

Hi I am not a master, but your proeblm 2 re window going back down again, could simply be because there is some sort of obstruction at the point it starts to go down. Its a safety feature to stop fingers getting trapped etc. My guess is that there is something in the groove the winndows slides up in, or that its si slightly too tight. I hope that sorts that probem, as for the others.....

Hi
Not even close to master level, but then u dont need to be when u got the Forum . . :bannana:

Do a search for resetting heater flaps - seems quite a common issue: resolution is v.easy to do (unless sonthing is broken) - and this does indeed sound familiar.

For windows - mine sometimes do that; again a simple solution (potentially). open window fully. hold switch in 'open position' for 5 secs. close window. hold switch in closed position for 5 secs. this will reset the limits of travel on the window: problem should be gone [works for me anyway]

good luck

Problem 1
I would say broken actuator flaps - could be a dashboard out job!

Problem 2
Could be a faulty door module, did all the controls get swapped over when the door was? Was there damage to the previous door?

Problem 3 & 4
Not sure, sure someone will think of something however 3k revs is limp home mode

Those codes are what the star machine has found to be nou working correctly (mostly heater control flaps) and freq counter is the number of faults stored on that item. You have a communication error with stepping motors that control said flaps, possibly because theyre goosed.
Try resetting the window as described above.
Mirror not folding could be a coding problem and just need plugging in(to machine in workshop) if you have had the door replaced. Or the folding motor could have gone, About £50 if my memory is right. They are not unusual.

For your last problem ,try a bit of resetting. Im not sure of your particular car but some cars learn your driving style.
If you search on here how to reset the car, its something about putting the key in and pressing the accelerator 3 times then turning key off...

found it here

Thanks alot guys, will use this more often, window sorted of reset, will try the pedal thing, is there a quick fix to stop the noise in the dash for example disconecting the motor so it stays in one position and doesnt make the clicking noise?....
