C180K Coupe (CL203)
Hi All,

I bought a C180K Coupe (W203 52-Reg) fairly cheap/gamble and am trying to resurrect it with the help of a local indep MB specialist. First job, needs front and rear SAM modules...doh!

Part numbers on knackered units...
Front SAM: 2035453001
Rear SAM: 2035451801

New parts from MB are £230+£240 (exc VAT), i.e shoot me now

Questions:
1) If I type W203 SAM on fleabay, I get a lot of hits starting from £60 upwards being sold in "good/working condition". Does it matter if a W203 SAM module came from a C180K or C200 etc as long as its the same era and W203?

2) Is the replacement SAM module plug and play or does my mechanic need to flaff around with STAR...like format/reprogram (don't really care...just curious).

3) I havent got myself a MB WIS/EPC yet. If its not too much trouble, can someone please look up above SAM units for my car and tell me the equivalent replacement/superceeded part numbers for the above units? This will save me time when looking on fleabay because the £60 quid part may actually be a replacement part for mine but I have no way of checking at present. Also, car at indep garage so want to get the parts to him ASAP.

Thanks in advance peeps!

Cheers
Bill

1. As long as the part numbers are the same
2. It will need to be coded.
3. Proper supersession is dealer knowledge only.

Second had SAMs are quite often faulty too. I would be wary. All the second hand SAM's I have fitted have been faulty.

Thanks for your reply olly. Have read a lot (good things) about you on forums, but were too far to drive my supposedly cheap get up and running motor.

Got any working SAM modules collecting dust for a resonable price? or any other recommendations on where to source replacement parts from?

Cheers
Bill

PS My wife will kill me over this. She wanted a punto, I spotted this C180K with "needs attention" in the advert and took a gamble...lol

I don't have any. Try MSL centre in Birmingham.

I would always buy new if it was me. You then get a 2 year warranty on the parts.

It will be expensive to put right. After all it is a Mercedes-Benz....

Thanks Olly.
