So this morning on the way into work (literally the last 40m) I clipped a rabbit which has cracked my passenger side LED DRL. I was expecting it to be expensive as its a Mercedes but didn't expect it to be £144!!

The DRL still works however as you can appreciate I would rather replace it now while the weather is half decent that when its 0c.

Looking on the great ebay I've found a couple round the £90-£100 mark some cheaper but before I pull the trigger is there anywhere else I should be looking for genuine or quality OEM parts?

Have you tried Breakeryard.com? I've used them previously looking for door's for a Ford Galaxy and found them really helpful (and cheap!).

About a month before I traded in my 2013 w204 I hit a rabbit on the motorway. Managed to damage one drl, a parking sensor and the front grill and was left with a bill for £450. Had to get it repaired due to the trade in.

I'm pretty certain there was a pair for sale on here (or maybe t'other side) not too long ago - have a search! http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/classifieds-mercedes-parts/195229-w204-drl.html

Those are for an SE they won't fit his Sport bumper I've got my eye on some they are expensive, what side is it mate?

I know someone with a single complete unit for sale, don't know if he'd split it though (DRL/Fog surround)

EDIT~ just re-read the OP  will check what side he has if it's still available

This~ http://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/131641350563

I'm pretty certain it's listed wrong, the SE DRLs have the rounded section at the bottom, I've seen this DRL in person at their lockup/garage (where I bought a FL bonnet from) and I'm certain it's the same sport DRL he showed me when I was there, but I needed a pair of them rather than a single

I have his number if you need :thumb:

That's what I like about this forum, always someone willing to help out.

Nice one ash :thumb:

Could be worse, a friend of mine wiped out a pheasant in his month old 911 GT3 a few years back. £2K for a new front spoiler. Bloody wildlife..

Cheers,

Gaz

Some years ago I hit a fox in my Astra estate - that was an insurance claim, new front bumper and a few other bits!

Was just about to buy but noticed the stone chip/crack

I thought VW stealership prices are high, MB are on a completely different level.

As they can be disabled i don't believe they are required to work for the MOT, however (as said the boy with the orthopaedic shoe) i could stand corrected.

I hit a hare in my M3 CSL, the carbon flipper was smashed. Ordered a new one at £240!

Whe I went to fit it on realised there was no where to attach it underneath, so I had to order a new bumper, made to order 12 weeks plus shipping, however, they had one coming in next week as a canceled order.
Got a phone call later that day to say good news and bad news, good news one had turn up at BMW UK in grey instead of the black that was meant to arrive so I could have it next day, bad news was it was £2800!

This was on the Monday, fitted new one Wednesday, then coming down the A11 through road works in rain on the Thursday evening I could see something in the road, it was an upturned cone, I tried to break as hard as I could without being rear ended but hit the cone. Shattered bumper!

I quickly called BMW the next day and said "You know that other bumper coming in next week, I'll take it!"

I also had my insurance renewal that month and my warranty ran out, so that was another £1500.

Including fuel, insurance, warranty and the bumpers it was a £7k month, although I did get the £2800 back of the company contracted to the Highways agencies after 18 months, but it made me realise I couldn't actually afford a car like that, running them is not a problem, it is keeping them going when things go **** up. :(

That's just for the LED strip, daylight robbery!

Expensive compared to something you can get from China for a fiver maybe, but £144 is not going to make a huge dent in finances for most people that own a Mercedes.

It's not a tear jerking amount, like an £800 quote for a new C class glove box. But still, a lot of money for what it is. China DRLs have more LED's in them than OEM they look odd. ...

Strangely though glancing through my Amazon wish list earlier, there was a pair of these in there for £150 from chrometech (IIRC) although now out of stock, which has the same amount of LED's and the correct length chrome strip

Edit~ they have seven LEDs, no wonder why I didn't buy them

Oem Carbon Fibre Csl bumpers from BMW are silly money iirc the "flippers ' can be changed alone. I owned a 2005 E46 M3 not a CSL but Was active on BMW forums.

Sounds an unlucky car for you! Although looking at what they are selling for now.

The flipper can be changed, I bought a new one, the problem was the underside of the bumper where the flipper attaches to had been ripped off. :(

Yeah, they are fetching silly money now, should have kept it, hindsight eh?!

Found a couple on eBay.de :)
