W204 NTG 4.7 - USB Drive

HI All,
I have a May 2015 C220 (W204 I believe) which I think has the NTG 4.7 system in. It looks lik the musicregister has a 10GB drive. The question i have seems to have been asked, but the answers seem a little vague, so just looking for clarification. I'm using a 250GB SSD, with nested folders.

i.e.:
A
--Aerosmith
---Greatest Hits (delux)
----101 - song.mp3
----102 - song2.mp3
---- etc
B
--Bastille
---Doom days
----101 - song.mp3
----102 - song2.mp3
---- etc
--Billy Fury
---Classics and Collectables
----101 - song.mp3
----102 - song2.mp3
---- etc

From what I read the system should be able to read approx. 255 folders, and 255 songs in each folder, but I cannot replicate this.

My SSD has just over 140GB of music on it, totalling about 21,000 songs and 1185 folders (including nested folders)
When i browse by artist or cover etc and the system indexes everything it will get as far as S (only partially) but this equates to around 11700 songs and about 840 folders. -
How is this calculated?
Is there a way rounds this?
Is it s storage limitation for the indexer?
Can the drive in the unit be upgraded - or am I going to be looking at replacing it with something like the Xtrons (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0CN6Z8DW4)

Any advice here would be appreciated.

The HDD can be cloned to a larger SSD. Not sure it's worth it though, because copying music from the USB drive to the internal HDD is painstakingly slow, and a fast SSD won't necessarily help much because the connectivity is ancient. I actually used a string of 32gb SD-Cards for my music, they are easier to replace while driving than the USB in the central armrest.

The Android screen is in fact a complete infotainment system built into the back of the display, with a pass-through option for the COMAND unit for when you want to use COMAND.

Another option is the Integrated Automotive Apple CarPlay / Android Auto adapter, which will allow you to play the music straight off your phone using the navigation roller as interface.

Thanks for the info. I can already stream but having android auto for maps and such would be really helpful in the interim until I can afford the replacement HU.
Do you happen to have a link for the Adapter please. I'll see if I can find a few 32/64gb cards, but I assume it still needs to scan them if i want to browse by more than folder.
Does anyone have any idea on the limits of the folder / file structure, as it seems very mixed on info.

Anyone have any experience with the linked head unit.
