I have had my W204 for about a month now and have noticed that the Alloy Wheel Nuts are going rusty! can anybody explain why this is and what I need to do to rectify this?

Thanks

Lawrence

It's common unfortunately.

They're not rust proofed particularly well, and don't have a stainless steel end cap so they look shabby after a few years use - cheaper to make though. What can you do?

1. Depending upon how old your car is then your MB dealer may replace them (probably as a gesture of goodwill rather than warranty).

2. Buy replacements from MB, but they'll go the same way.

3. Buy rust resistant replacements from Mercedes AMG BMW alloy wheels & tyres, UK wheel alloys

4. Remove, remove rust, repaint, refit.

Edited to add: Read a thread I started here on the same subject: http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/wheels-tyres/107983-replacing-rusty-wheel-bolts-best-replacement.html

Thanks might give MD a go in the morning.
