W206 C220D Reversing Camera not working

Suddenly we have no rear view picture when selecting reverse. Have checked the rear camera which is not popping out of its hiding place. Suspect maybe an electronic issue as Comand display stays on Radio screen and is not interrupted when reverse gear selected.
Has anyone else experienced this issue or got any ideas I might explore please?

Are the reversing lights coming on ?

If not it maybe an issue with the switch on the gearbox , if that is where the system looks at to activate the camera.

Presume this is W205 and the title is a typo…
Camera failure is common. It stops communicating and the camera screen doesn’t appear when it isn’t communicating. Starts intermittantly at first and slowly gets more regular. A new camera is not cheap, and won’t work without setting up. Most independents can’t do it, as it needs a grid affair to set it up that only the dealers have. Secondhand cameras are plug and play, if you can find one.

second hand cameras are only fully plug and play if they come out of the same shape vehicle. (i.e same model series (i.e W205 C class), saloon if yours is a saloon, estate if yours is an estate) - otherwise the lines are in the wrong place / not correctly calibrated - of course they can be calibrated if needed by someone with Online Xentry. which means MB dealer or proper specialist.

Fwiw a brand new camera won’t even emerge from it’s little flap until it is coded.
