mercedes clk
hi i am new to the forum, and owning a merc,

i have a clk 230k 1997,

after have a look over the car and quite impressed with it all, i am confussed of why they have a cable to fly by wire throttle,

i have been looking and noticed that they have got rid of the cable in the w209 model,

what my question is, is it possible to fit the pedal and fly by wire pedal out of a w209 and fit it in the w208, they look very alike,

has anybody done this

cheers jono

If you could, way would you bother to do it?

I've looked at the throttle pedal on my C230K, actually stripped it all out because I was unhappy with the pedal feel, the only thing I could do at the time was to clean up the pivot points and pack with very light grease. Ideally I'd have new pivots & floor hinge made in metal and eliminate the bit of sloppy play, metal one's would also align the plastic pedal assy to true as currently the pedal is out of alignment thanks, not to ware but to poor manufacture of the plastic moulded parts.

mine is a cable to the passanger wing then a fly by wire to the trottle body, i just dont like the feel of the pedal and surely the sensitivity will improve a little too.

You definitely sure it's drive by wire throttle on a 1997? mine isn't :thumb:

For sure on my '98, cable to n/s, connected to a potentiometer and loom to the T/body, thus I could fit a SprintBooster that I'm still considering.

You'd have no mechanical sensitivity then, which I find is nicer than the full fly-by-wire throttle. Also too, there's some adjustment with having part cable as you can adjust it somewhat.

Maybe consider a Sprint Booster, no extra power as the name might imply but, generally speaking there are a popular modification and take all of two minutes to fit. Later versions have three settings too.

i guess i am just used to fly by wire throttle, not had a cable in a while so i just feel like it slow and stiff, (sounds wrong when i read it back)

where do i sprint booster, is there any particular model, what price we looking at?

Have a search, I think there's several threads on them.

Oh yeah, forgot about that f1. But did not say it was only on the track @ the Nurburgring? From the comments I've read generally the SB seems to get good reviews and with the MK2 version it's got three stages of adjustability, so that might be just the ticket.

also, will they work on my model as its a 1997, there saying 2000 onwards,

there's a thread somewhere about fitment to earlier models than what SB say
