Hi guys
Recently replaced the water pump fun belt and fun clutch and wooshing sound after ive done that can you please help me out if this isnt normal
I'll try to upload a video clip to let you hear it
Thanks

Did you bleed the air out of the system ?

Anyone knows how to bleed the air out of the system please?
Thanks

With the coolant reservoir kept topped up and fill cap removed and engine running, keep squeezing and releasing the top hose..... this has always worked for me.

Mercedes are exceptionally good at self bleeding, run up to temp while the heater is on hot, as soon as heat enters the cabin the system will be bled.

So I can say I did the bleeding
What else can make that sound in the clip if thats not normal
Can air pump or ic pump make that turbine style wooooshing sound?
Thanks

Sounds like you have a viscous fan coupling issue, try turning the fan by hand when engine cold, and then when the engine is at temperature, when hot it should be noticeable harder to turn.

Thanks for that I'll try it in the morning
Do you mean to turn it with engine off?
I dont know whats wrong but that whooshing sound is louder than my exhaust
Thanks

I would be doing it with the engine not running.
Another test I have heard for the viscous coupling is the carrot test with the engine cold and running put a carrot in the way of the fan, it should stop easily, engine warm the carrot will be sliced in two.

Just a thought, you have replaced the viscous fan? I have fitted a few after market ones in the past they have taken a while to "loosen up" so do a few miles in it and see if it goes.

Thanks for the reply mate
Ive already done a few hundreds miles and was thinking that by now it shoud adapt but will wait a bit more and will see if it goes
and the thing that it makes a louder sound than my engine and my exhaust worried me a bit

Apparently new couplings need to be stored correctly if led flat apparently the oil leaks out, they need to be stored uprate. There was a story about a VERY well known high street motor factors doing exactly this and for months people were returning faulty fan clutches.
Possibly your supplier did,nt store it correctly hence why it "sounds" like its failled.

Tried this and no difference at all wether the engine cold or hot

Thanks for that andy
So the sound is sound of failed fun clutch?
Thanks
