I've decided to change the instrument cluster and heater controls on my CLK Elegance to the white sport dials but have a quick question about mileage correction. The new dial shows over 150k while my car has done just over 101k. Everything works fine on the new items and I think the white dials do look so much better.

Is it possible just to have the mileage changed by my local auto electrician or does it have to go on a STAR?

All advice welcome :thumb:

If your auto electrician has an equivalent machine which can fix the mileage or rather correct it then it should be possible.

Yes I believe he has and he'll be cheaper than MB that's for sure. I wasn't certain whether the new cluster had to be married to the car like some do.

Would,nt just be easier to remove the white gauge plates and swap them to your cluster?

I've done it now Andy, all swapped over. Must admit I did look at the possibility of swapping over but I tend to be slightly hamfisted and the instruments look fairly delicate, not to mention expensive- so I went the cowards way!:D

Star won't be able to do the correction, i had the same issue a few months ago and after a lot of playing around with star i ended up using these guys for the mileage correction I think they cover the Sheffield area.

Hi mate and welcome to the forum. Got it sorted this morning at the auto electricians near to where I live. Charged me £30 for 5 minutes work! In all honesty though, I was frightened to death of cocking up the gauges by swopping them over, so £30 was worth it for the peace of mind.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed as well.
